this on TV.
And a holier than thou prosecution lawyer taking potshots at the defence lawyer. It seems like legitimate moral outrage.
Yeah, if you'd objected to the line of questioning, and the judge let things go and refused to cut the defence counsel down, you'd have a point. Our judges reflect our prejudices and our world views. It needs to change, yes, yes.
Oh, and then I read this.
Meena Jagtab, Ms Eldridge’s lawyer, said that the judge stood by while Mr Tiku’s lawyer humiliated her client at a court hearing on September 14, at which Ms Jagtab was not present.
Why is nobody asking her why she wasn't present when her client, an individual likely to be completely at sea in court, was being cross examined?
Somebody ask that question please?
Oh and, the comment at the end of that Times article is strange. I wasn't aware that we claimed Britishness of any nature when convenient. Sheesh. No wonder people laugh at you when you're in this country. Racist shmucks.
Update: Bleh. It appears I was wrong about the advocate. Not my fault. Its poor drafting. Apparently the lawyer who was sounding pious was engaged later, and it was the lawyer first appointed who wasn't in court.
